Saladestar was born in May of 2003 as a space for experimentation and the diffusion of visual arts.

This is a brief description of the evolution which this project has undergone since its inauguration until today.

During the first season (2003-2004), using the generic motto of UN LLOC PER L'ART (A PLACE FOR ART), Saladestar used the non-commercial art gallery format to generate an intense activity with projects by artists from the emerging scene in this city.

In 2005, the focus of the space evolved and it began to harbor multidisciplinary projects which promoted special relationships with the public. This period was entitled NO NOMÉS UNA GALERIA D'ART (NOT JUST AN ART GALLERY).
That same year, we organized the first edition of GRAC!(1) (Festival of Ephemeral Interventions in the Public Space) with the objective of directly affecting the territory in which we are developing.

The third season of the project continued to evolve, and the chosen motto was ESPAI DE CONFUÈNCIA (SPACE OF CONFLUENCE), understanding the gallery as a mutating space which was transformed based on the different proposals which were installed and which came together. In 2006 the second edition of GRAC!(2) was held, in which Saladestar moved directly to the public space, as an antecedent to the next stage of evolution.

The current stage of the project, NOMADE (2007), is a period of transition, where the exhibition space of Martínez de la Rosa street is closed to the public, and Saladestar is transformed into an open organization of cultural production, which develops projects in collaboration with various organizations and individuals.
